Pairing and programming of new SME modules after replacement

After replacing a new SME (Smart Module Electronics) module in BMW electric vehicles and hybrid models, programming and pairing with the vehicle are mandatory. SME is the high-voltage battery control module responsible for HV system startup, charging, and communication between the battery and other vehicle control units.

Without proper initialization and synchronization, the new SME module will not function, and the vehicle will not be able to activate the high-voltage system.
