SFA Repair Kit
What is SFA and what is an SFA Repair Kit used for?
SFA stands for BMW Secure Feature Activation, a system used to securely manage software-based vehicle functions. SFA activations are associated with a specific vehicle and its electronic control units and are verified using protected tokens and certificates.
An OEM SFA Repair Kit may be required after replacing, programming or repairing an electronic control unit if its original SFA activations have been lost, damaged or have an incorrect status. In this situation, certain vehicle functions may be unavailable or operate with restrictions.
The correct SFA Repair Kit restores the original SFA activations assigned to the specific vehicle. It is not intended to add arbitrary new paid options — the kit restores only the factory activations that already belong to that vehicle.
