RDC to RPA conversion
We perform software conversion of the tire pressure system from RDC to RPA.
How does RDC work?
The system consists of four sensors located in each wheel. These sensors transmit information to the control unit by radio:
- Tire pressure
- Tire temperature
Why do BMW owners often disable RDC?
Each sensor has a built-in battery. Over time the battery discharges and the sensor fails. In this case the sensors usually need to be replaced as a full set.
The cost of an original BMW sensor is around 100 USD each, plus:
- Tire service
- Software binding of sensors to the vehicle
This makes RDC repair quite expensive.
Alternative: RPA system
To significantly reduce cost, we can reprogram the system from RDC to RPA.
How does RPA work?
RPA does not use pressure sensors. It analyzes data from ABS sensors. When tire pressure drops, the tire changes shape, the wheel diameter decreases and it starts rotating faster than the others. The system detects this difference and warns the driver about possible pressure loss.
Remote RDC to RPA reprogramming is possible. For this you need:
- Laptop with internet access
- ENET cable for connection to the vehicle
